Speaker announcement – Leana de Bruin

Leana played 104 test caps for NZ and 34 for South Africa. An energetic defender, de Bruin began her international netball career in South Africa. Shortly after moving to NZ in 2000 she was selected as a Silver Fern.  She played a key part of the victorious 2003 World Champion making her on-court debut.

A gifted athlete, Leana is a highly effective defender with an outstanding record at international level and in major competitions. She won the ANZ Championship title numerous times as part of the Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic. She is a World Cup and Commonwealth Games winner and is one of few Silver Ferns to play over 100 tests.

Leana has gone on to build a formidable legacy, her longevity making her one of the most durable defenders in world netball. Consistency of performance epitomised Leana’s netballing excellence, leading by example and standing the test of time as her career just got better and better with age.
